Sounds
This was meant to be a photographic diary of the year, and it still will be, but today was all about sounds.
Halo and I set off at 730 again and the park was dull and overcast. However, while there was nothing happening visually, the park sounded exquisite. We were surrounded by birdsong, which is not uncommon at sunrise, but there was a rhythm to it that stood out today. We had the usual singing from (I think) the blackbirds, but down at the bottom of the meadow we could hear a woodpecker, which scraped away incessantly in the style of a guiro. It accompanied the blackbirds’ cheerful morning song quite nicely.
(Nothing to see here. Somewhere within all this is a woodpecker, but I didn’t know where so we didn’t look. They’re quite hard to find.)
Later we went out and instead of birdsong we heard shouting people. We found lots more mud, too.
